about

In March of 2020, for the first time since its inception in 2008 Leicester's monthly Quadelectronic improvisation session at Quad Studios had to be cancelled due to hitherto unique and unprecedented circumstances: the public's enforced lockdown against contamination from Covid-19. As a nearest achievable alternative, Quadelectronic's "ringmaster" Chris Conway had the idea of doing it remotely via contributed solo recordings which could then be mixed into intuitive combinations. Jim Tetlow took on the role of creative mixer, intuitively grouping sympathetic material together into exciting new pieces, very much in the spirit of Quadelectronic's live improvisations.

Following the approach and artistic success of the 2020 and 2021 collections, this album comprises pieces selected by Jim as his personal subjective favourites from 2022. In some instances pieces have been edited down to more easily digested durations; it should in fact be considered as the digital equivalent of a 36 track 2CD collection of 18 tracks per disc.

about

United Isolation Ensemble Leicester, UK

The United Isolation Ensemble was born when Covid-19 lockdown forced Leicester's monthly Quadelectronic nights to be put on hold. Rather than live group improvisation, the concept is for solo performance material sent via online transfer and combined into interesting and unexpected combinations. The project has been so successful that it continues wilfully oblivious to the ups and downs... ... more
